Like an Onion

My friend Julie described herself as, “Like an Onion. There’s many layers.”
And like most women I’ve photographed, the statement proved to be true. She may have called herself a free spirit during our session, telling me about her leaving for the west coast at a young age. Also like most of the other women I’ve photographed, circumstances have touched her life deeply – in her case: a loved one the victim of a fatal, violent crime.
And she stands before her mirror, seeing the same things that you see in your mirror. It was a deep honor to show her another way to look at herself. To allow her to become, “Woman as Art.”
